Challenge
It is not always easy for a large company founded over a century ago and specializing in machine tools to start creating its own customized digital tools. Alfa Laval began its digital transformation by launching various initiatives, but these were uncoordinated and lacked a designer profile to see them through.
These projects were developed independently of each other, with no visual consistency between them, and development took a considerable amount of time as it started from scratch each time.
Solution
I supported Alfa Laval's digitalization process by participating in the creation of its first integrated design system, with particular responsibility for the data visualization library.

By talking with programmers, department directors, and managers, I contributed in developing the architecture of this design system to meet their needs.
This framework served not only to guide the implementation of new digital products and features, but also to introduce agile collaboration methods as a starting point for a broader transformation.
Data visualization
I joined the project in its second year to propose a range of flexible and versatile data visualization components that correspond to the different types of data from machine tools.
I also developed an onboarding manual and some guides to facilitate the application of the system by current and new employees.
Result
Beyond facilitating cross-collaboration between designers and developers and accelerating the development of new digital products, this system became a tool for organisational transformation.
This collaboration served as the backbone for the company to develop its own integrated design team.
